USA Potter Fans: Potter Stars Guest Starring on Merlin
Posted by Megs

For all you Harry Potter fans in the US who also enjoy the BBC show Merlin (starring Colin Morgan and Bradley James) a few Harry Potter stars will be guest starring on Season 3, which just finished airing in the UK a few weeks ago. If you haven’t seen the show, I suggest you catch up by watching the first two seasons on IMDB, its AWESOME, definitely one of my favorite shows! You can read an interview with Colin (Merlin) and Bradley (Arthur) here at collider.com. The guest appearances, in order of appearance, are as follows (I am assuming they aren’t skipping any weeks):

  • John Hurt (Ollivander) has a recurring role as The Dragon, he is seen in most episodes, though I am not sure which ones he will be in this season.
  • Mark Williams is the voice of a Goblin in episode 3, “Goblin’s Cold”, probably airing on January 21st.
  • Warwick Davis playing Grettir in episode 8, “The Eye of the Phoenix”, probably airing February 25th.
  • Miriam Margoyles will play Grunhilda in episode 6, “The Changeling” which should air on February 11th.
  • As I posted back in November, Harry Melling (Dudley Dursley) guest starred on episode 11, “The Sorcerer’s Shadow” playing Gilli. That episode probably will air March 18th.

Who else is as excited as I am for the premiere on Friday (YAY!!!!). There is a marathon that day starting at 8:30 am for anyone who is able to watch (sadly I will be at work). You can also order Season 1 and pre-order Season 2 on Amazon.

Harry Melling Guest Stars on Merlin & Talks About His Weight Loss
Posted by Megs

Harry Melling, who played Dudley Dursley in the Potter films, guest starred on this past weeks episode of Merlin which is entitled “The Sorcerer’s Shadow” playing Gilli. For those of you who are in the UK you can watch the episode here. And as for those of use in the US we will have to wait for Series 3 to air in the US (which will be in early 2011 according to TV Guide), unless you watch it in an illegal manner…which I do not condone.

Also in an interview he mentioned how he had to wear a fat suit for the final Potter film.

The 21-year-old Merlin star plays Harry’s cousin in the Harry Potter films, but had to have the extra weight added after he shed the pounds over the years. “It was quite funny because I had a big fatsuit on in this film and face prosthetics – I do look a bit different because Dudley was a very piggish character and about three years ago I lost quite a considerable amount of weight,” he said.

“It was bizarre, you feel really big and my mobility was affected. However, it is amazing to feel light but within someone that should feel really heavy, so that was a fascinating contrast. It was interesting in terms of the physicality and thinking about how he would hold himself.”

His weight loss also ensures that he is rarely recognised on the streets. “No I don’t, which is really beyond amazing! It means that I can lead a normal life without the baggage of people running after me and shouting things at me,” he revealed. “It was an active decision to try and change that and hopefully I can continue to do that throughout my career and be as mercurial and changeable as possible.”

Filmonic is reporting that Frank Dillane is one of five young actors in consideration to play Spiderman in the  4th film, which will show a younger Peter Parker than we saw from Tobey Maguire.  Frank played Young Tom Riddle in Half-Blood Prince.

Columbia wants to begin production on the Spider-Man reboot by the end of the year, and in order to do that they will need their Peter Parker. According to Heat Vision director Marc Webb has been meeting with actors quietly for several months, and has narrowed the list down to five possible candidates over the past week or two.

The movie will be released on July 3rd 2012 so they will have to decide soon.  More news as this develops!

John Hurt Talks Deathly Hallows and Potter
Posted by Megs

The Times Online has a new interview with John Hurt where he talks abut filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!

The franchise It’s very strange really. I did the first one and thought that would be it. Nobody knew whether it was going to be successful. When I came back last December to do the last two, suddenly everybody’s grown up. Daniel’s 20. It’s very peculiar.

Potter fans

They’re crazy about Ollivander — they love him! I’m not sure they will when they see the next one when he’s being tortured. I’ve never been pestered for an autograph. I get asked — usually by parents because the children are a bit too shy to ask. But I’ve never been pestered; I have a very good class of fan.
