According to The Scotsman, JK Rowling is going to be honoured in Edinburgh for her contributions to the city and helping get children interested in reading again.
Set to receive an official honour from the city, with the possibility of a street being named after her. A civic reception is expected to be held in her honour, in addition to the creation of a more permanent tribute.
JK Rowling has made a fantastic contribution to literature and Edinburgh has benefited greatly from her prominence on the world stage. I welcome the suggestion that her contribution should be celebrated in some way by the city
JK Rowling’s connection with Edinburgh has brought the city to the attention of millions of Harry Potter fans around the world. She is truly an exceptional ambassador for the city and the rest of Scotland.

If you remember, 2 days ago I posted about a rumour that JKR was writing a crime novel. We now know that it was totally fake, as the person who originally said this has stated:
“This is a joke that got out of hand,” said Rankin, describing how the remark was made on stage during the course of a festival event.
“There were 600 people in the audience, and only one person didn’t laugh,” he added.

One of JK Rowling’s neighbors (and another writer), Ian Rankin, has recently said that his wife saw JKR writing a new novel:
Rankin told how his wife Miranda had seen Rowling “scribbling away in a cafe recently”.
“My wife spotted her writing her Edinburgh criminal detective novel,” he said. He declined to elaborate on how he knew about Rowling’s new direction, but conceded he had not discussed it personally with her. He added: “It is great that she has not abandoned writing or Edinburgh cafes.”
Remember this is just speculation, so treat it as a rumour until JKR confirms or denys it.

Recently JK Rowling lost a privacy lawsuit in London over the rights of a photo agency to use a picture of her son, David.
Rowling’s lawsuit concerns a photo taken while she and her husband were pushing their then 18-month-old son David in a buggy. The child’s profile was clearly shown in the photograph, which was published five months later in a Sunday newspaper. They sued claiming the photograph breached the child’s right to privacy, and publishing it was misuse of private information.
