JK Rowling updated her official site today with reflections on Beedle the Bard selling.

As you may already know, the seventh copy of ‘The Tales of Beedle the Bard’ raised a staggering £1.95 million at auction, which will be donated to the Children’s Voice campaign (see Links).

It is fortunate that nobody was filming my reaction while the bids climbed higher and higher. Fiddy, Angela, Christine and I were sitting around Fiddy’s laptop in our office (the aforementioned being my PA and the invaluable assistants who deal with the postbag), watching a live link to Sotheby’s. Once the amount hit a million, I kept swearing loudly with every successive bid, and when we reached the final amount, the air turned a lovely shade of blue…

I am delighted that Amazon bought the book, and would like to thank them for their huge generosity, which will help the Children’s Voice reach many, many more institutionalised children. I am also thrilled to think that the moonstone Beedle will not be mouldering alone in a vault, but will be setting off on a tour of children’s libraries. Taken all in all, I could not have wished for a better outcome!

ITV1 has released the first of two video previews for J.K.Rowling…A Year in the Life documentary, which will be be aired on ITV on Dec. 30th at 7pm GMT. This clip shows when JKR finished writing Deathly Hallows. The second snippet, which will be released on Sunday, will show her revisiting her old flat.

J.K. Rowling was the #1 choice by fans for TIME magazine’s ‘Person of the Year.’ She was the third runner-up this year. They have an interview with the her where she talks about the books and answers 10 questions about Harry Potter. There is a spoiler below so don’t read the blockquote if you haven’t finished Deathly Hallows.

I just recieved an email from The Leaky Cauldron saying that JKR will be appearing on their podcast PotterCast Tuesday the 18!!!! When I say appearing I really mean speaking, he he.  

We’re very excited and proud to announce that as a little pre-Christmas surprise, J.K. Rowling will make her first ever appearance on a podcast on Tuesday when PotterCast #130 is released to the public.

It is the first in-depth fan interview since this one in 2005, and Jo’s repartee was everything we knew it would be: informative, warm, funny and chock-full of canon revelations as well as statements about the writing and publishing of the series. We had such a great time recording with her and hope that you all enjoy the output!

Most of Jo’s sit-down with Sue Upton, John Noe and myself will be played in Tuesday’s show, and the remainder will be saved for the following show.
