The Harry Potter UK Page on Facebook has secured its one millionth fan, smashing Facebook’s record for largest film fan page in the UK around the Blu-ray™ and DVD release of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows™ – Part 1, released on Monday 11th April.
Fans of the biggest franchise in film history have enthusiastically ‘Liked’, ‘Commented’ and ‘Shared’ to ensure that the Harry Potter UK Page on Facebook secured a place in the social media record books, beating the record previously held for a UK film page by Toy Story 3.
With Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows™ – Part 1 now available on Blu-Ray and DVD there is also the opportunity to watch a sneak peek of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows™ – Part 2 on Video on Demand via Sky Box Office, FilmFlex in Virgin Media’s Movies on Demand and BT Vision services
Warner Home Video worked closely with Think Jam, a leading social media, PR and creative agency, on the creation and management of the Harry Potter UK Page on Facebook to engage, inform and entertain the growing Harry Potter fan community with exclusive trailers, stills, interviews and updates. This exciting initiative was launched for the theatrical release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows™ – Part 1 in November 2010 and will continue through the theatrical and home entertainment releases of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows™ – Part 2.
Another new clip from the ABC Family Harry Potter weekend has appeared online. This clip is about the origins of the Maurader’s Map and is narrated by Jason Isaacs.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the Harry Potter series will be receiving a Hall of Fame Award at this year’s CinemaCon for its “rare and exceptional achievements in the motion picture theater industry.” The award will be presented to David Heyman at the CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards on March 31st.
“Since the first film hit theatres in 2001, Harry Potter has created a global phenomenon unlike anything ever seen before.” said Neuhauser in a statement. “Ten years and seven blockbuster films later, (it’s) the most successful film franchise of all time—having entertained and thrilled audiences of all generations around the world.”
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban has been named the Film of the Decade at the First Light Film Awards, the award is voted on by children aged 5 to 15! Clemence Poesy presented the award to producer David Heyman and said, “I remember my last day of shooting which was the last day for a lot of people, and some of them had been there for more than 10 years, so it really became very emotional.”
David Heyman had this to say about winning the award, “It’s especially exciting and moving to be voted Film of the Decade by children aged five to 15. We made the film for children of all ages from from to 105 really, but clearly a core part of our audience is young people and to be honoured is a privilege..”
