Edge-Online has a new article out about the effect the push back of the Half-Blood Prince movie will have on the release of the video game.

Analyst Todd Greenwald with Signal Hill said, “Though EA is not to blame for this delay, the negative impact will likely be the same nonetheless. … We doubt that EA will attempt to release the title without the movie. It’s definitely a reversal of the way things usually work. Usually the movie’s on time, and EA’s late with the game.  But EA has the game pretty much done and ready, now the movie’s delayed.”

EA has yet to announce a final decision on the matter. The publisher told Edge in an e-mail,  “We are making a great game that Harry Potter fans will really enjoy–we are evaluating the impact of the movie date change.”

Entertainment Weekly has updated their website with a full version of the Draco and Harry shot was saw in the EW Scans, but the scans were split up since it was spread on two pages.

The LA Times has a new article out and in it they speak to WB’s Alan Horn.

He added that he had seen the film, which is in the final production stages, and that it would “absolutely have been ready” by November. He characterized the shift as a proactive business move, not a retreat. “The question we asked is, what is best for this movie.”

Horn acknowledged that the studio would have to pacify fans in the months to come.

“We would never do anything to hurt one of the movies or the series. We love our fans.”

EW now has a blog online about this push back of Half-Blood Prince. They start off by saying, “EW and Warner Bros. share a parent company, but they clearly do not share, you know, important friggin’ information.”

Asked about the seriousness of moving a Potter movie so late in the game, the exec adds, “Turning a battleship that big isn’t easy. You’re not talking just about the movie, but all the merchandising, the toys and stuff. It’s huge. And it has a domino effect across the rest of the summer slate.” The date change will affect other studio’s slates as well.
