Filming of the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie started today at Gloucester Cathedral. Stars that have arrived include Alan Rickman, Dame Maggie Smith, and Tom Felton.

A blue-screen has been erected in the Cathedral’s cloisters to help with the computer generated effects which will be added later.

Two sets of crutches were also spotted arriving at the set – leading to speculation the scenes after Ron falls from his broom in a game of quidditch could be being filmed.

Filming is expected to continue through tomorrow (Friday, February 8th) If anyone goes feel free to send in pictures or what you thought of the set or whatever you saw!

According to A&J management, a new actress has been cast in the role for Half-Blood Prince. Scarlett Byrne is 17 years old and has acted on Television.

This is not confirmed by WB but I will update with any news on this.

The BBC has new video online showing preparations for the site for the filming Half-Blood Prince and interviews with the students who be Hogwarts students. 174 young students from King’s School will be getting fitted for their Hogwarts school robes this week.

Year six pupil Emily Summers said: “The two things I am looking forward to the most are watching everything going on around me, like filming and getting my costume fitted, and having my hair and make-up done.

The Cathedral cloisters will double up as areas in Hogwarts for a star-studded cast, which includes Daniel Radcliffe, Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane and Julie Walters.
