Davids and Dan
Posted by Megs

On two separate occasions the Harry Potter producers (David Heyman and David Barron) and Daniel Radcliffehave let us in on some Deathly Hallows news.

The Davids say:

“We won’t start filming [Deathly Hallows] ’til February next year. So it hasn’t really gone bananas yet. We’ve got thoughts [on who will direct], and I’m sure something will be announced in the not-too-distant future.”

The only negative of splitting the book into two films, says Barron, “is that people could possibly perceive it as being one last chance at cashing in. But the real positive, if we were to do that, would be that we wouldn’t have quite the battle we always have of ‘How do you compress all that book into just over two hours of screen time?’

While Daniel states:

“I have no idea how that rumour started or where it came from. It’s not true. How’s that for a definitive answer?  It’s absolute rubbish that Spielberg is directing the final film. It’s not true. There’s absolutely no foundation in that at all.”

On the subject of the sixth movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, he added: “We’re getting through it alright. I’m really enjoying it. We’re about six months in and we’ve only got four more to go.”

Dan in Biggest Crushes of 2007
Posted by Megs

Elle Girl has a list called Poster Boys: Our Biggest Crushes of 2007 online and Daniel Radcliffe is on it!

Daniel Radcliffe did more than just drop trou in the play Equus; he dropped his innocent Harry Potter image as well. While the actor, who was the top-earning young male actor of 2007, will still be starring in this year’s Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and signed on to the next installment of the HP series, he’s bringing his strip-show stateside, returning to Equus this fall when it opens in New York.

New Dan Interview
Posted by Megs

There is a new interview with Dan Radcliffe online at Empire.

Empire recently spoke to Radcliffe and talked a little about the film [Journey, the story of Dan Eldon], which Radcliffe says is not quite as close to production as reports have suggested.

“There’s a lot of stuff flying around about this at the moment,” he said. “I am absolutely attached to it and it would be amazing to play that part. But people are making assumptions about when it’s going to happen and it won’t happen – if indeed it does happen – for a while yet. But basically…Eldon grew up in Africa and discovered a gift and a passion for photography. Eventually he got too caught up in something that lead to his death”.

To prepare for the role Radcliffe spoke at length with Eldon’s family about his life. “They showed me some of his diaries, which the film will be based on mostly,” he continued. “They’re incredible. There have got to be 20 books and they’re all inches thick, with things sellotaped into them and with wires coming out and everything. He was someone who died very young, but seemed to live as full a life as much as anyone who lived to be a ripe old age. It’ll be incredible to play him”.
