The narrator of the Harry Potter series, Jim Dale, is going to be hosting a release party for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on July 20th.

The party will be taking place in the Barnes & Noble Union Square starting at 10:30pm. He will discuss how he was chosen to narrate the books and he will read some exerpts from the first 6 books.

Amazon reported this morning that they have reached 1 Million preorders for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. They have also lowered the price from $18.89 to $17.99.

In 2005, pre-orders for the sixth book, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” didn’t reach the 1 million worldwide mark at Amazon until 174 days after the book was first available for pre-order. It took just 95 days to reach that mark for the seventh book. In the U.S. alone, more than 620,000 copies of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” have already been pre-ordered while the company’s site in the U.K. has now surpassed 250,000 pre-orders.
