Barnes & Noble announced yesterday that pre-orders for ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ total more than 1,2 million, the largest number of pre-orders for any book in the company’s history.

EDIT by Megan: As I posted earlier in the month, Amazon.com already broke their record for preorders. They were at 1.6 million, so I can only imagine how high they are now.

Arthur Levine, the man who brought the Harry Potter series to Scholastic and the U.S. in 1997 spoke about discovering the books for the first time at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and falling in love with them and more.

“At some point I needed to pay a little bit less attention to the phenomenon,” he says. “I’m not responsible for the phenomenon.

“I’m responsible for the books.”

300 Canadian booksellers from the chain Mac’s Convenience Stores have been denied the right to sell the last HP book.

The Canadian HP publisher Raincost is afraid that there isn’t enough security and is afraid of leaks.

A petition has been set up by waterstones for a seventh harry potter book. Fans insist that even at harry’s demise a 8th book is very much wanted. The petition aims to get atleast a million signitures on it so if you want to see an eighth harry potter book head over to waterstones and sign the petition !!
