Dumbledore represents everything a good professor can be: a mentor, a father figure, and a friend. If it wasn’t for him, Harry would have never gotten over his broken past to become the wizard he is today. And really, who doesn’t love a professor who makes up words at schoolwide banquets? Cheers to Dumbledore for bringing the ridiculous back into education.

Hey guys! Just thought I would let you know about a fun project Mugglenet is doing for the 10th anniversary of Sorcerer’s Stone! I am working on my entry now and will post it when I am done, even though I look like a fool 

So, starting today, we want to hear YOUR stories of coming into the world of Potter. How did you find the book? What was your first reaction? Did anyone else you know read it? What has Harry Potter done for you since then? Since your stories will be released on September 14th to mark the specific occasion, we ask that those who submit something be those who found the books 8 to 10 years ago.

Scholastic, the U.S. publishers of the series, will hold  Harry Potter Cover to Cover Day event at their headquarters in New York City, the starting at 8 am on Saturday, September 23rd! I will see if I can get there to get pictures and other fun stuff (if I can find someone to come that is)! Highlights:

• All-Day Read-a-Thon and Live Webcast to Commemorate
  10th Anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone at
  Scholastic on September 23, 2008
• The fun begins at 8:00 AM on September 23, 2008 and doesn’t end until the last page has been read!
• Fans of all ages can also view the event on a live webcast at www.scholastic.com/readharry, and those in New York will get a chance to sit in the throne used by J.K. Rowling at Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall, and read a portion from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone aloud.
• Every participant will receive a FREE Harry Potter Cover to Cover Day commemorative souvenir, and the first 100 readers will receive a free copy of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone special anniversary edition complete with new illustrations by Mary GrandPre.
• Harry Potter costumes and attire is encouraged but not required.
• First come, first served to read aloud.
• Due to live web casting of the event, all readers under age 18 years old, must be accompanied by a legal parent/guardian

The Telegraph is reporting about how well the Harry Potter prequel JK Rowling wrote is selling! It became the fastest-selling short story of all time when the entire print run was snapped up in a single day. ‘ Ordinary fans got their chance to own a copy when 10,000 cards went on sale at Waterstone’s branches across the country. Such was the demand that many stores had sold out by lunchtime, and all 10,000 copies were gone by close of business.’
