Movieline has a new interview with Jamie Campbell Bower who will be playing Young Grindlewald in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Do you feel even more watched after taking roles in New Moon and Harry Potter?
Do you mean, is there an increased scrutiny on my performances?
Or on you in general! I know that with a lot of your New Moon castmates, the paparazzi attention is merciless.
For me, it’s been interesting. Obviously, a lot of people want to talk to me about Twilight, but all they want to really know is, “What’s going on with Rob and Kristen, blah blah blah?” There’s been increased media attention, but I haven’t had my life invaded, and so I’m still in a happy place, I think. [Laughs]
Are you happy that you snuck in under the wire to be a part of the Harry Potter series at its end?
Yeah, I’m incredibly happy. I went up for a role a few years ago. Didn’t get it. [Director] David Yates called me up…well, I shouldn’t say, “called me up.” His assistant called my agent, who then called me. [Laughs] And they offered it to me and I was more than happy to do it.
Which role had you gone up for before?
I went up for the young Voldemort. Was that the second film or the sixth? Oh, I don’t know. It was a few years ago.
