Variety is reporting that Emma Watson is in VERY EARLY talks to play the lead role of Cinderella in, you guessed it, Disney’s adaption of Cinderella which is set for release some time in 2014. Kenneth Branagh will be directing the film and, as many fans recall, Kenneth played Gilderoy Lockhart in Chamber of Secrets so this definitely gives Emma an edge. Cate Blanchett, of Lord of the Rings fame, will play the wicked stepmother.
Fans will also remember that Emma is hoping to play Belle in Guillermo del Toro’s adaption of Beauty and the Beast, if that project ever moves forward. Both the director and Emma have expressed how excited they are to possibly work together.
Coming Soon is reporting (via Variety) that Daniel Radcliffe could possibly be playing Igor in Fox’s reboot of Frankenstein. The original article, by Variety, has since been deleted, it is not known whether this was at the studio’s request. According to the article on ComingSoon:
Paul McGuigan (Push, Lucky Number Slevin) is attached to direct the project, planned to begin production later this year. The film, scripted by Max Landis (Chronicle) Shelley’s 1818 novel.
“I began to pick apart our knowledge of ‘Frankenstein’ and discovered that the public’s idea of this myth comes from a million different places,” Landis told ShockTillYouDrop.com in 2011. “…I became committed to recontextualizing it all so it all worked in one story. By the end of the day, it’s a period piece and yes, it’s from Igor’s perspective, but man it’s cool. It’s the best thing I’ve written.”
The Hollywood Reporter adds that Igor is “described as pathologically dirty, with long hair and wearing old clown clothes.” Production for the film will begin in the UK in late-Summer, if Daniel is indeed playing the role we will be sure to post.
