Global Challenge Coming to Harry Potter: Wizards Unite
Posted by Megs

The Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Fan Festival, happening Labor Day weekend, August 31st and September 1st at White River State Park in Indianapolis is fast approaching! WB Games and Niantic announced a Global Challenge that will coincide with the event.

Some Sunday tickets for the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Fan Festival are still available via the app, so get yours now!

Participants at the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Fan Festival will not be the only ones who get to experience the new content coming to the game including new Portkeys and the much-anticipated introduction of Dragons! While Fan Festival attendees will experience all of the new Dragons and Portmanteaus, players all over the world will also be competing to unlock new content in their regions via special Portkeys that lead to Dragon Eggs. If each region unlocks enough dragon eggs, those dragons will show up on their area!

If attendees of the Fan Festival are successful, a special Day of the Dragons event will take place on September 7. During this 3-hour period, each region will be visited by a Dragon not typically found in the area. The exact type of Dragon will depend on which type of Dragon Egg was collected the most in that specific region during the Global Challenge. For example, if players in Asia collect more Antipodean Opaleye Dragon eggs than any other type during the Global Challenge, they will encounter Antipodean Opaleye Oddities for the 3-hour event and receive bonus XP for all Dragons returned during the Day of the Dragons!

All ticket holders will explore the sprawling White River State Park as they complete exclusive event-specific Special Assignments and be the first to discover brand new in-game encounters, including never-before-seen Oddities – Dragons. From the Welsh Green to the Antipodean Opaleye, these regional Oddities will be making their landfall debut in the game at Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Fan Festival in Indianapolis this Aug. 31 – Sept. 1. Calling All Wizards – Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Needs Your Help!
Posted by Megs

In a new video released this morning, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is calling all wizards to help them with the recent goings on in the muggle world!

In Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, each incident increasingly places the wizarding world at risk of exposure, and players must work to solve the mystery of this Calamity as new recruits of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force. Players will be able to explore their real-world neighbourhoods and cities to discover mysterious artefacts, cast spells, and encounter fantastic beasts and iconic characters along the way.

Co-published and co-developed by WB Games San Francisco and Niantic, Inc., Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is under the Portkey Games label. Portkey Games is dedicated to creating new Wizarding World mobile and videogame experiences that place the player at the centre of their own adventure, inspired by J.K. Rowling’s original stories.

Players can pre-register for the game on Google Play or the Galaxy Store for Android devices to be among the first players to experience the magic of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite when it launches later this year.

First Look at ‘Harry Potter: Wizards Unite’
Posted by Megs

Today we’re finally getting a first look at the newest Wizarding World game – Harry Potter: Wizards Unite! Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is coming to iOS and Android mobile devices in 2019. Pre-registration is now available on Google Play.

Co-published and co-developed by WB Games San Francisco and Niantic, Inc., Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is part of Portkey Games, the games label dedicated to creating new Wizarding World mobile and video game experiences that place the player at the center of their own adventure, inspired by J.K. Rowling’s original stories.

Some screenshots and video of gameplay have been released by Niantic and Warner Bros.

In Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, the player’s journey begins as a new recruit for the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, with the purpose of investigating and containing a Calamity that has befallen the wizarding world. Witches and wizards from across the globe must come together to cast spells and return Foundables – artefacts, creatures, people, and even memories – trapped by Confoundable magic, to their proper place in an effort to keep magic hidden from Muggle eyes.

As players journey across the world, they’ll discover Inns that replenish their Spell Energy, magical ingredients for brewing special potions, Portkeys that unlock AR portals into iconic wizarding world locations and much more.

Combat skills will be tested when witches and wizards visit real-world locations called Fortresses, key areas that play host to Wizarding Challenges. These real-time multiplayer battles against dangerous foes encourage players to join forces with fellow witches and wizards to take on higher level threats and unlock rare magical rewards.

More details may be found at the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite blog!
