A number of Harry Potter cast members have stepped up to help the Bush Theatre from a grants cut. Daniel Radcliffe, Jim Broadbent, Julie Walters, Alan Rickman, Frances de la Tour, Gemma Jones, and Miriam Margoyles have all stepped up to help.

They are among more than 150 actors and directors publicly backing the tiny west London venue’s fight against Arts Council England’s proposal to reduce its funding by £180,000.

If the cut is implemented it would “seriously diminish” the Bush’s capacity to do its work and serve audiences, the supporters say.

Harry Potter actors Richard Griffiths (Uncle Vernon) and Julie Walters (Molly Weasley) will receive Orders of the British Empire (OBE) and Commander of the British Empire (CBE) respectively.

These awards were created by King George V in 1917 and are awarded mainly to civilians and service personnel for public service.

Just wanted to put out a reminder about the new movie that Dame Maggie Smith and Julie Walters are in. It is called Becoming Jane and is about the life of famous author Jane Austin.  Maggie plays Lady Gresham; and Julie plays Mrs. Austen.

It has been out in the UK since March 9th (not sure if it is in theaters anymore) and comes out in the US in limited theaters on August 3rd and everywhere on the 10th.

J.K. Rowling, Emma Thompson (Professor Trelawney), and Julie Walters (Molly Weasley) have been chosen in The Daily Mail’s 25 Women We Love.

How important do you think training is for an actor?

I think it’s very important…. For starters, you’re cast in roles that you otherwise wouldn’t be cast in, and you get to do it without critics or newspapers and the media….There are some things you just can’t teach. I think people are actors or they’re not… training doesn’t necessarily make you an actor.
