Bonnie Wright Starts Production Company
Posted by Megs

Bonnie Wright has started her own production company, BonBonLumiere, after finishing her degree in Film & Television at the London College of Communication.  BonBonLumiere has already completed one short film and has plans to make more throughout the year! The production company also has a tumblr account, which you can view here.

Bonnie is showing her short film, Separate We Come, Separate We Go, starring fellow Harry Potter actor David Thewlis, at this year’s Cannes Cannes Short Film Corner at Cannes Festival. A synopsis of the film is as follows:

Separate We Come, Separate We Go is the story of a 10-year-old girl, Thea who escapes her bleak domestic life to find sanctuary in the surreal desert landscape of Dungeness. Roaming around the barren skeletons of boats and abandoned fishing huts, she is increasingly aware of her loneliness and vulnerability. Seemingly out of nowhere a man (David Thewlis) appears; she is so intrigued by him she defies all lessons taught about strangers and approaches him. As they walk and talk she discovers he is a widower and has lost his son; she realises she is not alone in experiencing loss. He notices her sadness and unusual maturity and decides to help lift her out of her melancholy. Through the metaphor of the freedom of flying birds, he shows her that life does have exciting possibilities.

This redemptive story shows that in life you should not allow fear to limit your horizons.

Daniel Radcliffe Confirmed for “A Young Doctor’s Notebook”
Posted by Megs

At the beginning of the month we posted a rumor stating Daniel Radcliffe might star alongside Jon Hamm in a BBC Miniseries about the life of a Doctor. Today Variety confirms those reports are true! The show will be distributed internationally by BBC Worldwide.  According to the article:

Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe have been confirmed as the stars of a new U.K. comedy drama miniseries based on a Russian novel in which they both play the same character. The pair feature in “A Young Doctor’s Notebook,” a four-part skein inspired by a collection of short stories by Russian writer and playwright Mikhail Bulgakov set during the Russian Revolution. Hamm takes the role of the older doctor, who has a series of bleakly comic exchanges with his younger self, portrayed by Radcliffe.

Of the role, Daniel said, “I have been an obsessive Bulgakov reader for a couple of years now so when the opportunity to become involved in this project came up, I could barely contain my excitement. The book is funny, grotesque and heartfelt in equal measure and I look forward to working with a great group of people to help bring it to life.”

Posted by Megs

HMV is running an online poll to find the best British album and film from the last 60 years to celebrate the Jubilee and the Olympic summer with Harry Potter obviously being among the movies! To be more specific, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II made the cut! To vote visit their Facebook page, you can also write in your own candidate (like any of the other 6 Potter films!)!

hmv is proud to be associated with the Music is GREAT campaign, which, in this very special year for Great Britain, celebrates everything that’s wonderful about British music and the fantastic contribution that it makes to our rich and diverse culture and to our nation’s standing around the world. By way of showing our support, and to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, we invite the public to vote for their greatest British albums and films of the past 60 years.

We’ve already polled everyone at hmv, and have come up with a longlist of classic albums and can’t-miss films. We know it’s hard to pick just one, so you can vote for up to five albums and films, and also vote for your favourite if it didn’t make the longlist.

As a big thank you to everyone taking part, we’re also giving one lucky person from the UK the chance to win all sixty films and albums on the list.

Some other films in the running are The King’s Speech, Love Actually, Atonement, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Goldfinger, Notting Hill and many more!
