I was emailed recently about an awesome website called Revenge of Sirius.  It was started by a group of fans who wanted to use their fan status for good.  They sell fan art posters and the proceeds go to Autism Speaks.

“In celebration of the final 2 installments of the Harry Potter movie series and as a project of fan appreciation, 7 top designers and artists, who are also fans of the series, were commissioned to create original artwork celebrating one of the series’ most memorable, and unforgettable, moments. This ultimate “fan art” was then turned custom, individually numbered poster.  The posters are limited to an edition of just 300, with less than 250 available to the public through our website. Each beautiful poster tells its own different story, allowing the fan to relive memorable and influential moments in an artistic manner. Once this limited edition print has sold out, they will never be printed again. We will be releasing these posters in two week intervals, starting in july. Celebrate the fandom, the story and the thrill of Harry Potter by hanging a little part of its history, inspiration and influence on your wall.”

The Harry Potter Alliance is STILL in the running for the Chase Community Giving Challenge’s top prize of $250,000.  The contest ends tonight at midnight EST and the HPA has been alternating between first and second place for the last few days.  Let’s push them over the top.

The Museum of Science, Boston is pleased to announce that it will extend its East Coast premiere run of Harry Potter: The Exhibition by one week. Due to its popularity, the exhibit, which was originally set to end its run on February 21, will now remain open until February 28, 2010. To meet demand for tickets during February school vacation weeks in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, the Museum will also offer special extended exhibit hours:

• Saturday, February 13 through Saturday, February 20, Harry Potter: The Exhibition and Museum exhibit halls are open 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
• Sunday, February 21 through Thursday, February 25, hours are: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
• Friday, February 26: 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
• Saturday, February 27 – Sunday, February 28: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.

The extended run will give New England fans their last chance to step inside the famous wizard’s magical world before the exhibition moves to its next location, the Ontario Science Center in Toronto, Canada. The Museum of Science is the only New England location on the exhibit’s tour.

Entertainment Weekly has posted a list of the Top 10 Viral Videos of 2009 and A Very Potter Musical is mentioned!  “Most viral hits are short and sweet, which might explain why these brilliant — but extremely long — entries into the pop canon didn’t become as popular as they deserved to be: Both the the fan-made “Dr. Horrible” prequel and the student-created Harry Potter musical should have been huge hits. Instead, neither quite took off, except here at PopWatch Dork Headquarters, where they are treated with the respect they deserve.”
