Here are some of the figures from the openings of order of the phoenix worldwide:
- OOTP took in $44.8 million on its first day.
- Breaking a record for the best single day gross ever for a wednesday movie (beating the previous holder spiderman 2)
- Opened on 950 screens in France.
- France took a takings of $5.9 million within the first day.
- The film opened on 126 IMAX screens worldwide , 91 of which in the USA.
- OOTP shattered IMAX records with it being opened on 90 IMAX screens in north america and taking $1.9 million on opening day. $450,000 of which was midnight showings.

Warner Bros. Pictures’ Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix made $12 million from it’s midnight showings.
This amount is way ahead of earnings for first night showings of Transformers, (began it’s first screenings at 8 pm) earning $8.8 million and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End which brought in $13.2 million its first night (with screenings that started at 6pm).
The fifth movie opened this morning in 4,181 theaters.
