Time for a quick news roundup on Matthew Lewis’ upcoming film Wasteland, which Matthew began filming last week and will continue until March 31st (which many of you will remember as the day the Harry Potter Studio Tour opens). Matthew will be playing the character of Dodd and Timothy Spall will be playing D.I. West. The synopsis of the film is as follows:
Battered, bruised and under arrest, Harvey Denton sits in a police interview room facing interrogation. Clutching a stack of eyewitness statements, Detective Inspector West has no doubt as to Harvey’s part in a foiled robbery, and his subsequent attempted murder of local businessman Steven Roper.

Today MTV revealed that filming on Wasteland would begin at the end of February! It has been news for many months that Matthew was attached to the film but nothing was confirmed so this is great news for Matthew fans! Wasteland, by writer-director Rowan Athale, will also star Matthew’s Potter co-stars Timothy Spall (Pettigrew) and Natalia Tena (Tonks).

In other Christmas news, David Bradley (Hogwarts Caretaker, Argus Filch) will be attending two Christmas events that benefit charities.
The Stratford-based actor will open the Save the Children event at the town hall on Saturday November 26 at 10am, to which admission is free. Ann Bailey, secretary of the charity’s Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth branch, said: “We are again delighted by the demand for space at the fair. “The event is almost twice the size of last year’s. We are indebted to David Bradley for fitting us in to his very busy film schedule and look forward to welcoming him to Leamington.”
Mr Bradley will also be opening a Victorian-style Christmas event in Kineton next Friday. Kineton will come under a Victorian spell for the evening, when there will be mulled wine and mince pies, hot chestnuts, traditional live music from Silver Bough, carol singing, a host of stalls selling Christmas gifts and many other attractions. The opening will take place at the war memorial at 6pm and the event will run until 8pm.
E! Online has released a new video that shows the cast and crew on the final day of filming for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts I and II as well as some interviews and other clips. The clip is part of a feature on the Deathly Hallows DVD.
The film comes out on DVD in the US this Friday, November 11th and in the UK on December 2nd. If you are in the US you may pre-order the different versions below at the WB shop:
Another preview for Maximum Movie Mode has been posted online and may be seen below. This clip shows host Matthew Lewis discussing Professor McGonagall and her relationship with Harry and her rebellious streak.
