Following a tankard of Butterbeer in the backlot café, couples will be able to wander up the wizarding shopping street of Diagon Alley before arriving at the breathtaking Hogwarts castle model. After-dinner tea, coffee and petit fours will be served overlooking the majestic model.

Christmas feature will run from Saturday 19th November – Sunday 29th January 2017

This festive season, Harry Potter fans are invited to experience Christmas time at Hogwarts and discover how film-makers created fire, ice and snow that never melts as Warner Bros. Studio Tour London undergoes a magical makeover for Hogwarts in the Snow.

From 19th November – 29th January, visitors will have the opportunity to see the Harry Potter film series’ most iconic sets decorated for festive scenes. Christmas trees will line the Great Hall, the Gryffindor common room will be dressed for the season and a blanket of filmmaking snow will be meticulously applied to the majestic Hogwarts castle model.

After stepping onto the original stone floor of the iconic Great Hall, visitors will spot wreaths, garlands and trees decked with golden baubles that are topped with witches on miniature broomsticks. The long dining tables will be dressed as they were for seasonal feasts at Hogwarts with prop versions of roast turkeys, hams studded with cherries and even flaming Christmas puddings.

The Gryffindor Common Room and Boys’ Dormitory will be decorated with the original props including handmade Christmas cards, some of which were made by the cast members during production.

Fireplaces throughout the Studio Tour (including those in the Leaky Cauldron and Great Hall) will be ‘lit’ with special effects fire, created by John Richardson and the SFX team using a combination of water vapour and lighting effects. Visitors will also see the hand-knitted jumpers that Molly Weasley gave Ron and Harry for Christmas in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Other costumes on display will include one of the first Christmas presents Harry ever received at Hogwarts, his Invisibility Cloak and, for the first time, Madame Maxime’s costume from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

The Hogwarts castle model will be transformed for the occasion by a team led by Model Effects Supervisor José Granell, who worked on the Harry Potter film series. During filming, a member of the crew climbed aboard an elevated work platform and sprinkled the ‘snow’ mixture of granulated paper and grains of salt onto the model by hand with a sieve – like dusting sugar onto a cake. The same process will be used at the Studio Tour this November. Visitors will even be able to touch samples of the different types of ‘snow’ used during production, each selected for its ability to float like falling snow, crunch under foot or glisten in the light like ice.

Hogwarts in the Snow will run from Saturday 19th November – Sunday 29th January 2017. Tickets must be pre-booked and all extra features are included in the ticket price.

This winter, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter are giving Harry Potter fans a final chance to experience The Philosopher’s Stone Fifteenth Anniversary Celebrations.  From Saturday 15th October to Friday 4th November, visitors to Warner Bros. Studio Tour London will be given a last chance to see the original Sorting Hat and peer into the Dursleys’ living room as the exterior set of number four, Privet Drive is re-opened. With many more features showcasing the best of the year so far, this is an opportunity not to be missed! You can purchase your tickets to the studio tour here.

Between 15th October and 4th November, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter is giving fans a final opportunity to see the best of the year so far. The Studio Tour is bringing back the favourite props and costumes as voted for by fans on social media. The favourites will be returned to the Tour as a special feature to celebrate 15 years since the cinematic release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Fans voted in their thousands to bring back a favourite from this year’s half-giant Hagrid feature; Hagrid’s deconstructed costume. This specially designed version of Hagrid’s costume even incorporated a cooling system to help body double Martin Bayfield cope with the heat during long days of filming.  Visitors will see the tubes which were hand-stitched into the fabric that had cold water running through them to bring down the temperature.

Our interactive special effects ‘UP’ broomstick was also chosen by fans. Visitors will be able to stand next to the broomstick, shout ‘UP’ just like a Hogwarts student, and watch the broomstick fly into their hands.

In addition, the iconic Great Hall set, as seen in all but one of the Harry Potter films, will be dressed for the occasion with a section of its long tables laden with a Hallowe’en feast including red apples, pumpkins and cauldrons of lollipops. Eagle-eyed visitors will also spot the costume of Defence against the Dark Arts Professor Quirrell. Voldemort’s face was digitally added to the back of Quirrell’s head and a model of this can be found in the Creature Effects area.

This will also be the last chance for visitors to see the original Sorting Hat and stool in the Great Hall and peer into the Dursleys’ living room as the exterior set of number four, Privet Drive is re-opened especially for the Studio Tour’s 15th anniversary celebrations of Harry’s first year at Hogwarts.

Videos: Fiona Shaw at Special Preview of Privet Drive at WB Studio Tour
Posted by Megs

The WB Studio Tour Facebook shared a few videos of Fiona Shaw at a special preview event of Privet Drive at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London last night. The Privet Drive set will be open to the public from May 27th – June 6th.

For a limited time only, as part of our celebrations of the 15th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone film release, we are offering you the chance to step inside number four, Privet Drive and peer into the Dursleys’ living room. Hundreds of Harry’s Hogwarts letters created by MinaLima, the graphic designers for all eight Harry Potter films, will be suspended in the air as though they’ve flown through the fireplace!

Also on display for the first time will be the Dursleys’ costumes which proved to be a rich source of inspiration for Costume Designer Judianna Makovsky. She remembers them being the most fun to dress, creating clothes that appeared out of date and pretentious for Mr and Mrs Dursley, as well as hideous jumpers for young Dudley.

In addition to the opening of number four, Privet Drive, we will be showcasing the equipment that was used to shoot Harry’s Hogwarts letters through the letterbox. The machine, which was specially created for the film by award winning Special Effects Supervisor John Richardson, will be on display in the Studio Tour during the feature between 27th May – 6th June.

A video that was recorded live at the opening my be viewed below:
