It has long been rumored that Emma Watson would be starring in Francesca Gregorini’s Your Voice in My Head. Tonight, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the casting saying:
Emma Watson has signed to star in Your Voice in My Head, the adaptation of the Emma Forrest memoir that Francesca Gregorini will direct. Academy Award nominee Alison Owen, a producer on the upcoming Saving Mr. Banks, and Benaroya Pictures’ Michael Benaroya, whose credits include Lawless and Margin Call, will produce the drama[.]
Watson was loosely attached to the project a few years ago when it was set up at Warner Bros. with Harry Potter director David Yates. Yates left in 2012 and Watson followed soon after, with Emily Blunt next being associated with the project.
The project moved out of Warners and is now on the independent track. And Watson is back with Gregorini, the daughter of famed Bond girl Barbara Bach, who co-helmed the Rooney Mara coming-of-age drama Tanner Hall.
The film, originally a memoir by Emma Forrest (who also wrote the film script,) tells the story of a young woman living the fast life in New York who attempts suicide before being saved by a selfless psychiatrist who is hiding the fact he is dying of cancer.
The production starts filming in New York on November 4th.

Variety is reporting the news that Emma Watson will be an executive producer on a new film franchise based on the The Queen of the Tearling trilogy of books. Harry Potter producer David Heyman will also be a producer for the films. It is assumed, although not confirmed, that Emma will also star in the film.
The books, by Erika Johansen will be published by Harper Collins beginning in 2014. The trilogy has been called a female “Game of Thrones” and is set three centuries after an environmental catastrophe when a malevolent Red Queen holds considerable power. According to Variety, the 19-year-old female lead, Kelsea Glynn, was partly inspired by a speech she heard Barack Obama, then a senator, give in 2007.
From a press release in February, Harper Collins revealed that the book is:
“a female-oriented Game of Thrones that is also an insightful human story whose heroine is grappling with the both the daily realities of coming-of-age and the ethical dilemmas of ruling justly–all while simply trying to stay alive.” Set three centuries after a small portion of the human race has populated a landmass that mysteriously emerged in the wake of an environmental catastrophe, the series follows nineteen-year-old princess Kelsea Glynn, who must reclaim her deceased mother’s throne and redeem her kingdom, the Tearling, from forces of corruption and dark magic of The Red Queen, the sorceress-tyrant of the neighboring country, Mortmesne. According to Ziv, “Erika’s masterful storytelling, combined with her ability to transport the reader to another fully-realized world, makes her an exciting new talent.”
