Warner Bros. let us know that we may apply to send one person to cover the Harry Potter Countdown Event being held in Japan on August 11, 2010 in preparation for the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The details of the event are:

1) Theme: Harry Potter’s Countdown Event for the fans
2) Date: August 11, 2010
3) Place: at a main theater in each of 5 key cities (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Sapporo)
4) The event will include:
– A look back at the films from HP 1 – HP 6
– Exclusive footage from HP 7 Part 1
– Give aways, and more.

I will be submitting one eligible fan’s name to be considered for a press pass at the event. Any of our Japan-based readers can apply as long as they meet the following criteria:

1. You must be available and able to attend the event at one of the following cities on Aug. 11: Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, or Sapporo. Please do not apply if you are not certain you are fully available on that day. Details about time and exact location will follow from Warner Bros.

2. You must be 18 years old or older.

3. You must submit a writing sample in English (for example, a blog entry, news article, essay, etc.). If possible, please submit the sample in the body of the email or as a link to a webpage. It can be complete or a portion of a larger work, as long as it is enough to demonstrate your writing ability.

4. Please be committed to covering the event and submitting a report for publication on Magical-Menagerie. You will be attending the event as a representative of the site and as press, not as a fan.

Please note that we must submit our representative’s name as soon as possible, so if you fit the criteria above, please apply by emailing your name, email address where you want to be contacted, phone number, statement that you are 18 years old or older, and a writing sample in English to webmiss@magical-menagerie.com by 2pm Saturday EST!

Thanks to SS we can report that new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows footage will be shown during Japan’s Harry Potter countdown event.  The event will be on August 11th and several theatres across Japan will be featuring a marathon of the first six Harry Potter films, as well as an exclusive preview to Deathly Hallows. The Harry Potter countdown event will take place in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo.

Today we have a new promotional image from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that was featured in France’s Gallimard.  In the photo we see Harry at Grimmauld place.

Thanks to IGN, we have a description of the Deathly Hallows footage shown at the San Diego Comic Con.

Potter’s nemesis sits at the head of a long table, joined by Snape, who then instructs Voldemort about Potter’s whereabouts. It is here that Voldemort says the chilling line: “We all agree that I must be the one to kill Harry Potter.”

Ron and Harry get into a shoving match and then its quick shots of those who have died protecting Harry, a shot with several Harry Potters standing around, as well as a glimpse of the forcefield surrounding Hogwarts burning away.

The footage also gave us a look at Bill Nighy in the role of Rufus Scrimgeour, the new Minister of Magic.

The last shot was a very dramatic, very slow-mo stand-off between Harry and Voldemort, aiming their wands at each other as their magics collide in the middle. Harry, knees inching toward the ground, looks like he is about to meet his match.
