A new behind the scenes look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens was revealed at San Diego Comic Con this past weekend. The feature takes a quick look at the movie and we get to see Domhnall Gleeson in the footage.
Domhnall confirmed at SDCC that he will be playing General Hux, telling the audience ‘I am evil!’ when asked outright if he was playing a bad guy. But then, he added: ‘He’s British, so yeah.’
See Domhnall at 2:45.
A photo showing his character, General Hux, was also released at Comic Con and can be seen below:
The first trailer for Brooklyn, a film about a young Irishwoman coming to New York, has been released. The film stars Harry Potter alumni Domhnall Gleeson, Jim Broadbent and Julie Walters. The film will be released on November 6, 2015.
BROOKLYN tells the profoundly moving story of Eilis Lacey (Saoirse Ronan), a young Irish immigrant navigating her way through 1950s Brooklyn. Lured by the promise of America, Eilis departs Ireland and the comfort of her mother’s home for the shores of New York City. The initial shackles of homesickness quickly diminish as a fresh romance sweeps Eilis into the intoxicating charm of love. But soon, her new vivacity is disrupted by her past, and Eilis must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within.
Dohmnall plays an Irisman, Jim Farrell while Jim Broadbent plays Father Flood and Julie Walters portrays Mrs. Kehoe.
Variety is reporting today that two more actors have been cast in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Alison Sudol will play Queenie, the younger sister of Tina, played by Katherine Waterston, who eventually becomes Newt Scamander’s wife. They also confirm that Ezra Miller, who starred alongside Emma Watson in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, has joined the cast. It is assumed he will be playing an American named Kredan, though it is still unknown.
They also report that Josh Gad and John Krasinski are the final choices for the other main American in the film, Jacob. No word yet on if this is true or when the role will be officially cast.
Set in New York roughly seven decades before Harry Potter’s saga starts, “Fantastic Beasts” is based on the Hogwarts textbook of the same name and follows the adventures of its author, Scamander. Scamander is described as a “magiczoologist,” someone who studies magical creatures. Besides Scamander, there are four other main roles — two American girls and two American boys — that the studio is looking to cast.
David Yates is directing the film, which is set to release on November 18th 2016.
UPDATE: J.K. Rowling has revealed that Kredan is NOT a character in the movie and that the name is incorrect, she did not give any further details.
.@KeridoAvada Kredan is quite literally nobody. They got the name wrong!
Deadline is reporting that Tom Felton has joined the cast of Stratton, which is based on the series of novels by ex-SBS agent Duncan Falconer. Dominic Cooper will be starring as Stratton alongside the likes of Tom Felton, Gemma Chan, Tyler Hoechlin, Thomas Kretschmann, Derek Jacobi, Connie Nielsen and Jake Fairbrother.
It is based on an eight-novel series by Duncan Falconer, a pseudonym for an author who used his own military background to inform the lead character. John Stratton is an operative of the SBS who works with the Intelligence Detachment in Northern Ireland. The character seems a strong fit for Cavill, starting out in Kazakhstan and China and moving to mainland Europe and London.
Shooting of the film begins next week in Italy followed by Rome and then the UK. There is no release date as of right now. It is unknown who Tom will be playing.
From Monday 20th July – Sunday 6th September, you’ll be able to watch delectable demonstrations on how jelly snakes were moulded, sugar skulls were decorated and ice-cream sundaes were piped during production.
Expert prop makers will be based in the Ministry Munchies kiosk from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and will challenge you to spot the difference between real bakes and prop fakes as you see edible delights being created and get up close to original artefacts.
You’ll be able to:
Learn how props such as the floating pudding from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (that Dobby drops on the Dursleys’ guests) were made
See the Gryffindor common room set decorated as it was for the Quidditch victory scenes in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, complete with decorations, sweet wrappers and a barrel of Butterbeer
Discover how towering ‘frozen’ desserts were assembled outside Florean Fortescue’s ice-cream parlour on the Diagon Alley set
Take a look at some of the graphic designers’ original sketches and designs in our Art Department (they were tasked with creating dozens of unique sweet boxes and wrappers from Honeydukes and Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes – in the end they created more than 120 different items for the Weasley twins’ shop alone!)
Butterbeer ice-cream will also be available to purchase in our backlot café this summer as well as frothy tankards of the drink which is reminiscent of shortbread and butterscotch.
Book your tickets now and see if you can tell the difference between a real bake and a prop fake!
