JK Rowling has made the Forbes World’s 100 Most Powerful Women at number 61. Her Forbes profile may be seen on this page.

The first female billionaire novelist, J.K. Rowling celebrated the release of the eighth and final film in the Harry Potter series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II,” 13 years after the release of the first book. But the young wizard hasn’t left her system completely; Pottermore, a new website, will be launch in October to coincide with the premiere of the Harry Potter series as e-books. Between the films, books, merchandise and amusement park at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla., FORBES estimated Rowling, a married mother of three, is worth $1 billion. She’s more than a commercial force: she is credited with getting a new generation of kids reading and “Knights Of Old And Harry Potter” (Georgetown University), “Battling Against Voldemort” (Swarthmore College) and “Christian Theology and Harry Potter” (Yale Divinity School) are a sample of the courses available at U.S. colleges.
