The Film Society of Lincoln Center website has been updated with the news that My Week With Marilyn will be premiering on October 9 as the Centerpiece of the New York Film Festival at Alice Tully Hall. As fans will recall, Emma Watson plays Lucy in the film; this will be her first post-Potter film to be released, though she filmed last year. A slew of other Harry Potter stars are also in the film including Kenneth Branagh (Lockhart), Toby Jones (Dobby), Geraldine Somerville (Lily Potter) and Zoë Wanamaker (Madame Hooch).
Michelle Williams stars in My Week with Marilyn as Marilyn Monroe, as seen through the diaries of British filmmaker Colin Clark (played by Eddie Redmayne). The film is set in the summer of 1956, during production of The Prince and the Showgirl, in which the young Clark introduced Monroe to British life, providing welcome relief from the pressures of Hollywood.
[I recommend seeing The Prince and the Showgirl if you’ve never seen it before, it’s quite a good movie and it may help enhance the viewing experience when you see My Week with Marilyn]
Film Society members and patrons will have the opportunity to buy advance and discount tickets to the New York Film Festival, if you are a member you can get your tickets by clicking here. Tickets will be on sale to the general public starting September 12.
