Matthew Lewis Talks Harry Potter and Verdict
Posted by Megs

In a new interview with Wales Online Matthew talks about the filming and saying good bye to Harry Potter as well as his new play Verdict.

“Yes, it’s the first time I’ve ever acted on stage,” he chuckles “Theatre is something that has passed me by. Now I want to go with it and see where it takes me. When you’ve played the same character for 10 years you don’t want to become typecast, you want to be seen in a different way. That’s why it’s a pleasure and privilege to work with experienced stage actors. It’s a great foundation for me to appear in such a great production. We opened in Windsor and I have to confess it was a bit terrifying,” he jokes. “We didn’t have much rehearsal time, only about three weeks in all. The first night it was nerve-wracking, but once I got that first performance and then the first week out of the way it it’s been easier.

He also confides that there were no tears and no sadness on the last day of filming, although it was an incredibly emotional moment. “I didn’t feel sad, I felt incredibly proud,” says Matthew, who has become firm friends with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. “I felt a special bond with all the cast and all the crew that have worked on the films for 10 years. It’s been an incredible achievement to complete the series and have the privilege to see at first hand what the films have meant to so many people.

Emma Watson to Star in The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
Posted by Megs

Coming Soon is reporting that Emma Watson will be starring in The Perks Of Being A Wallflower with Logan Lerman.

The project is being produced by Lianne Halfon and Russell Smith via their Mr. Mudd productions banner. Mr. Mudd’s John Malkovich will executive produce. Production of the film is slated to commence this summer.

Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Production, stated, “Every so often you read a book that reminds you what life was really like at a particular age in all its wonderful and terrible details or if you’re lucky enough to read it at the right time in your life, it can change the course you’re on and make you think things are actually going to be ok. ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ is that book and we are thrilled for the opportunity to turn it into that kind of movie as well. We know we are off to the right start with Stephen directing, with Emma and Logan starring, and with our talented producer team.”

David Heyman Discusses BAFTA Honor for Potter Series
Posted by Megs

In a new video interview with BBC, Harry Potter producer David Heyman discusses the Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award that he and JK Rowling will be accepting on behalf of the Harry Potter series this Sunday at the BAFTA awards.

We’ve been making these films for 10, 11 years now and the whole journey’s been absolutely fantastic. But to get this recognition from BAFTA is something remarkable, unexpected and a treat. We don’t make films for the legacy. We make films to make the best films possible. The most important thing is that the audiences enjoy them. So far they seem to have enjoyed them. The fact that we get awards like the Michael Bokon award is a huge honor and something that every member of the cast and crew will treasure. But that’s really the icing on the cake.

We’ve seen people grow over the 10 years of Harry Potter and learn their craft. It’s been a great training ground for so many. So hopefully those people will continue to work and grow within the industry. I think that films working on films generates new talent and hopefully we’ve been part of that.

I think in some ways we’ve grown as the visual effects have grown. You look at the visual effects in the first film and frankly they’re a bit ropy. You can see as the quality of the visual effects has improved, so they’ve improved in our films. And I think in terms of British visual effects in particular, we’ve been a part of that growth and development.

Harry Potter has been unique. I’m sure I will never be part of anything quite like it again. There’ll be other unique and special experiences in my life and in my career, I’m sure. I hope. But there’ll be nothing quite like Potter. If something were to come along again and I were fortunate enough to be part of it, I’d grab it in a heartbeat. But I think it’s unlikely. For me, I’ve been involved with it since 1997. I’m treasuring these past 14 years. They’ve been amazing.
