Rupert: Eddie the Eagle update!
Posted by Megs

As you may recall, Rupert Grint will be playing the infamous ski jumping legend Michael Edwards, known as Eddie The Eagle. Eddie attended the Vancouver Games in Canada and he mentioned the film. CBC news states:

Edwards also noted that a feature-length movie about his experience in 1988 is in the works.  “I’m going to be receiving a script within the next two months and I think they want to start filming towards the end of the year,” he said.  “I’m really looking forward to it. I loved Cool Runnings, the film about the Jamaican bobsled team that was also at Calgary. And I’m really looking forward to having this movie being made about my life.”

The NY Times adds:

He may, however, be poised for something of a comeback. Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, has been cast as Edwards in an upcoming film about his life.

Rupert’s reps have let rupert-grint.us know that “official news on Rupert’s involvement will be released as soon as they are given the green light.”

Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang trailer
Posted by Megs

A new trailer for Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang has been released. The sequel to Nanny McPhee stars Emma Thompson (Trelawney), Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort), Maggie Smith (McGonagall), and Rhys Ifans (Xenophilius Lovegood).  This film is one of the reasons that Emma decided not to return to play Trelawney in Deathly Hallows, among other things.

Terry Gilliam Talks Potter + Praises Cuaron
Posted by Megs

Once again Director, Writer, Actor and Producer Terry Gilliam has discussed his dislike for the Harry Potter franchise and why he is glad he decided not to do a film.  He also praises Alfonso Cuaron for his work on Prisoner of Azkaban.   He had previously called the franchise a factory.

On Gilliam’s and J.K. Rowling’s hopes, at one time, to do a Harry Potter movie together.
“I wouldn’t have been able to do a Terry Gilliam Harry Potter movie. Those movies are factory products. There’s so much weight and pressure from the boys and girls in the head off that you’re truly inhibited in what you can do. Alfonso Cuaron did the best job on those movies, really pushing it when it came to what he was showing you, not JUST the book.
“I’ve never been very good at working for other people. But I’m totally exposed. I don’t have anybody to hide behind when things don’t work out. It doesn’t seem to be my lot in life. My lot is banging my head against walls and climbing mountains of my own making.”
